DNA Sample Collection
For DNA analysis, it is required to send blood or any other material containing isolatable DNA, together with a completed accompanying form, to our address.
Blood
The fastest way to obtain a DNA test for your animals is to request the necessary number of blood collection tubes by phone or email. The tubes will be sent promptly to the address you provide. Immediately after collection, the blood must be mixed with the anticoagulant solution in the tube (if using your own tubes, do not use heparin) to prevent clotting. The tube must be labelled with the animal's ear tag number. A sterile needle must be used for each animal! Deliver the collected samples to the laboratory as soon as possible.
Hair, bristles, mane and wool
In the case of hair, bristles, mane and wool, the samples must be pulled out – not cut! (Genetic material is located in the hair follicles!) At least 20 hairs must be sent. A bundle of hairs must be placed in a labelled envelope or a self-sealing labelled bag. Only hair from one animal must be placed in each bag. Mixing of samples must be strictly avoided.
Feathers
Feathers must be pulled out – not cut! At least 20 feathers must be sent. Place them in a labelled envelope or a self-sealing labelled bag. Only feathers from one animal must be placed in each bag. Mixing of samples must be strictly avoided.
Milk
A milk sample collected into a milk sampling vial with a preservative (microtabs) can be sent as a sample. The sample must be thoroughly mixed and kept refrigerated. Microtabs will be sent upon request by post.
Other material
Our laboratory has experience with other materials for DNA extraction, such as: antlers, soil mixed with blood, and others. For information on obtaining DNA from other materials, please contact the laboratory staff by phone or email.

In the event of the sudden death of a genetically important individual (e.g., the mother of a future stud male, an egg donor, etc.), genetic material must be collected for origin verification purposes (blood, tissue – not soft tissue, sperm, egg – approximately 3–4 g) and stored frozen. The best option is to collect ear cartilage after thorough cleaning. The size should be approximately 1×1 cm, 2 pieces.
In the case of hair and feathers, frozen storage is not required.
After payment of the postal order, we will immediately begin processing your sample and send you the results as soon as the tests have been evaluated, together with an invoice.
