Instructions for reporting changes and movements of pigs from 1 July 2024
CRHZ – Pigs
Pig Identification
- Group identification of pigs is a fundamental prerequisite for maintaining the central register.
- Pig registration number – the identification number of the pig group by which the pigs are identified.
- Pigs are identified by tattooing or plastic ear tags.
- Each pig is identified by a plastic ear tag in the left ear or by tattooing in the left ear or by surface tattooing on the left side of the body.
- The plastic ear tag used for pig identification contains:
– two characters indicating the country code (letters “SK” for the Slovak Republic)
– five characters indicating the registration number of the herd in which the pig was born
– a graphic symbol (logo), name or code of the organisation authorised to maintain the central register of pigs
Ear tags, information and documents required for maintaining the central register are provided by the regional offices of the Breeding Services of the Slovak Republic, state enterprise.
